Dr. Hans Selye, the Hungarian-Canadian genius, is the "Father" of the field of stress research. He gained world-wide recognition for introducing the concept of stress in a medical context. A physician and endocrinologist, he demonstrated the role of the body's responses to emotion, illness and injury. In the 1950s, for now world famous Dr. Paul McLean was Director of the Laboratories for Brain and Behavior at the National Institute of Mental Health.
