12 Ways Stress Sabotages Your Health and Your Performance

Why Learn to Defeat the “Dirty Dozen of Stress”

Why is it so critical to manage stress? Because stress is generated right in the center of your brain. The area of the brain which manages survival. It is responsible for the “Flight, Fight, and Freeze Response”. That part of your brain generates stress. It affects everything in your body and mind! Therefore, stress changes all your physical and mental functions profoundly. That is also why SciStress, scientific stress management, works so quickly. That is why it works so profoundly. Because SciStress reduces unwanted stress responses right in the center of your brain.

What does stress do to your performance – IMMEDIATELY
  1. Brain fog, because up to 70% of the blood and with-it vital oxygen get pulled out of the prefrontal cortex, the area of logical thinking.
  2. Tunnel vision and selective hearing because your survival brain wants you to focus exclusively on what it perceives to be the danger, the stressful situation.
  3. Poor memory& learning new material because the brain wants you to focus only on the present “danger”.
  4. Bad decision making because of the irritability and restlessness caused by the stress hormones adrenaline and cortisol which flood your system.
  5. Restless sleep because the stress hormone cortisol will keep you awake at night. And the lack of sleep will make you even more susceptible to stress the next day.
  6. Overly aggressive, defensive or “playing dead” because it is part of the normal stress response “Fight, Flight, and the third one, Freeze” as it shows up in daily life.

What does stress do to your health and well-being – LONG-TERM
  1. Tension head and back aches, migraines because the stress response tenses your muscles to get you ready for fight or flight. This is the #1 reason people call in sick at work! This alone costs business billions of dollars each year.
  2. Poor digestion because the stress response also pulls blood from your digestive system slowing it down even halting it completely.
  3. Blood pressure and pulse rate increase which over time causes cardiovascular problems.
  4. Increased cortisol makes you crave sugar and fat leading to unhealthy food choices and overeating.
  5. The liver dumps glucose into your bloodstream elevating your blood sugar. Over time this can lead to diabetes type-2 and diabetes type-3, the dreaded Alzheimer’s disease.
  6. Repeated severe stress will reduce your immune response. High stress will even damage your chromosomes and genes. Therefore, it will reduce your resistance to all kinds of illness including cancer and heart disease and cause faster aging.

Two hidden secrets of stress
  1. Bad odors: To increase your chances of survival in a stressful situation your old brain triggers “pre-cooling” by producing sweat so you can run or fight for your life. With the constant stress of modern life this leads to body odor and sweaty hands and feet. Poor digestion will add bad breath to make it worse.
  2. Bad sex: Stress hormones use up the same nutrients in the body which are needed to produce sex hormones and the healing and cell regeneration hormone DHEA. With stress unmanaged not only is healing slowed down, but your sex life is ruined.

Here you have the 12 dangers of STRESS + 2. The “dirty dozen of stress” + 2 really embarrassing ones! Wouldn’t it be great to have an easy fast working technique to combat stress? Techniques you can use in any stressful situation right there at work, at home or while traveling and all in real-time.
