Just For the Guys - No Cheating Ladies!

A man and his tough boss
This Is just for You Guys - no Cheating Ladies!

When I write about stress and how to defeat stress, it doesn't really make a difference whether you are man or woman.

For all humans stress is generated the same way.

It's generated in the same place in your brain.

But there are a few very subtle differences how this works for guys and girls.

Why is that? Question:

Has your woman, or for that matter any woman, driven you crazy because she talks about 10 different things at the same time?

Have you ever driven her crazy because you want to solve
her problem, want to fix it, and she just wanted you to listen to her? ...

What are the reasons for that?

Because 10,000 years ago, even 100,000 years ago, when your brain was build, you and she had very different jobs to do.

And believe it or not your brain hasn't changed much since.

Your job was to hunt and get food to the fireplace.

Her job was to keep the fire going, gather and prepare more food, look after kids, and talk to the other women.

You, my man, you needed one single focus to hunt that prey successfully.

She always had to do a lot of different things and talk about it all day long.

Therefore your brain and hers are slightly different.

You need to control and focus on one thing or you get stressed.

Multi-processing is not your thing, its stressful for you.

But, since you need control, you can't really admit that you are stressed.

And if you do, you want to control that stress with brute force, "I can control this!"

Unfortunately that's not how your brain works.

Stress gets generated deep down in your old brain via emotions.

"Oh no not that! Not that feeling stuff!"

Yes indeed, stress is an emotional thing.

The stress mechanism in your brain has developed millions of years ago, long before the logical thinking brain was on the drawing board.

So all stress is communicated via emotions.

Now if you go out on the golf course or go to the gym or run a few miles, then your stress level will go down immediately.

Why is that?

Because that was your job for hundreds of thousands of years!

You were designed to go out there and stalk and hunt the prey.

You'd be out there setting up quietly to throw that spear or rock or shoot that arrow.

Or you had to run for your life to get away if the beast was too big for you.

Those violent actions would release the built-up energy in your system.

When you were done you could relax.

Why is this so important even today?

Because if you sit still all day in front of a computer screen, in front of the steering wheel driving down the highway, in the corner office or on the assembly line, if you don't move, your stress builds up and makes you sick.

Your first defense for stress is movement.

Create a chance to move around a little even while you work or watch the tube at night.

Hey man, you could even ride an exercise bike while you watch the news.

A little yard work doesn't hurt you either. But real important for your mind and body is this: several times a week do a more serious workout.

Work up a sweat! Get breathing heavily.

Get tired and exhausted.

That heals your mind and body. That will get rid of stress.

That's what makes you a man, just like 100,000 years ago!

Now there's more to stress

Why is it so important to learn all you can about stress?

Because stress can be very subtle, even devious!

It can gnaw away at your health and ability to do your best.

Stress can sabotage your performance both at your job and even in the bed at home.

The smart folks, doctors and from universities, tell you that 80% of all problems and disease are caused by stress.

I know stress from my early childhood on, from war and hunger.

I've wrestled with it all my life.

Now I can tell you much, not just how stress is made but how to defeat it.

This can help you and your loved ones.

Therefore, my man, hang out with me on occasion, read my little blog when you get time.

What you don't know about stress can hurt you, sometimes now and sometimes in many years.

I write the best I know to be useful to you.

Send me your questions and I'll give you answers if I can.

So be my friend and I'll do the best I can to be yours too.
